“Slim my waste” bins: a constant reminder to lose weight

Bristol Waste are running a “slim my waste” campaign to encourage people to use separate food waste bins. On every wheelie bin, bright yellow stickers read “I’m on a no food diet” and tape measure style “slim my waste” stickers are wrapped around the middle section. A funny play on words? Not for the 1.6 million people affected by eating disorders in the UK.

Did you know that a child gets eaten by a fat person every two minutes? Did you know that obesity costs the NHS twenty billionygozilliony pounds every minute? So what can we do about it? Tell a stranger on Facebook at that you’re concerned for their health? Tell your girlfriend you’ll leave her if she puts on weight? TWEET SOMETHING IN CAPITALS?

“Who are you calling fat?”

So a bunch of fat people move into a house together… it sounds like the start of a joke. It’s not. It’s sort of a reality TV show but sort of a documentary. It's sort of pro-body positivity whilst simultaneously really being against it. Seemingly in a quest to find balance, it's ended up being pretty divisive. Great. Just what we need in the UK at the moment.
